Good Evening, The dollar which has been on a losing streak reversed and strengthened driving the market lower in midday trading. Also contributing to the drop was a reverse in oil which had been strengthening in recent weeks.. It should be noted that the former actually had a lot to do with the weakness in the latter as commodities namely oil in this case are priced in dollars. Thus, as the dollar becomes stronger commodities become weaker. By the way, the value of the dollar has the same effect on precious metals such as gold although it is some what muted compared to the effect that the dollar has on commodities…… Never fear though, the relentless dip buyers drove stocks back up late in the session with the Dow and S&P actually finishing at all time highs. That said, the intraday highs for the major indices were much better than the closing prices. The truth be known, this market could use a better rest than it got today, but I find it doubtful that the dip buyers will let it take much of a breath.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment finished slightly in the green with a gain of +0.06%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.54%, the Nasdaq slipped -0.05%, and the S&P was up +0.06%.  In case you didn’t already know it or you haven’t figured it out, the C Fund tracks the S&P 500. (;

By the way, if you all believe that Trump made the dollar rise please contact me. I got some swamp land for sale in Florida that will soon be beach front property after a little more global warming….

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Buy, S-Buy, I-Buy, F-Sell. We are currently invested at 100/C. Our allocation is now +5.17% on the year not including the days results. Here are the latest posted results:

    Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being. The Fed chairman gave a somewhat dovish address in which he noted that  “the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting…
