Good Evening, A much better than expected jobs report contended with disappointing guidance issued by Amazon resulting in a mixed day for stocks. Amazon which is considered a bell weather stock by many due to it’s large retail presence had a decent report but issued poor guidance which it blamed on it’s India operations. The latter statement also stoked fears that the global economy is slowing down. The jobs report, however, was stellar with 304,000 new jobs being created in the US. Unemployment rose from 3.9 to 4% but that was blamed on the government shutdown and did nothing to take away from the surprising jobs report.

The days trading left us with the  following results: Our TSP allotment gained +0.40%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.26%, the Nasdaq fell -0.25%, and the S&P 500 was up +0.09%. Praise God for another good day!

Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being.
