05/17/18

Good Evening, The market was working on a nice day until the beginning of the afternoon session when it gave up it’s gains for the day and headed into the red where it remained until the closing bell. The turning point was a news conference with President Trump (The 1st of the dreaded three T’s) in which he was candid about the ongoing trade negotiations with China. He simply stated that China was spoiled in it’s trade with the US, that it was currently being enriched at the expense of the US which would have to change, and that as a result he wasn’t optimistic that a trade agreement would be reached this week. Although he did add on caveat which was that he thought a agreement could eventually be reached and that it would be one that both he and President Xi of China would be happy with. He also said that China could be influencing North Korean leader Kim Jung Ill and that was possibly the reason that North Korea had been making negative comments about a future meeting between the two. Of course the market liked none of this because of the uncertainty that it presents. One bright spot was the continued out performance of small cap stocks. Through the kind providence of God we are currently invested in the S Fund which gives us the most small cap exposure that we can get in TSP. I wish the Thrift board would approve a fund that would allow us to invest directly in the Russell 2000 during times like these….

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allocation out performed again with a nice gain of +0.30%. For comparison, the Dow lost -0.22%, the Nasdaq -0.21%, and the S&P 500 -0.09%. Praise God for blessing our group once again!

The days action left us with the following signals: C-buy, S-Buy, I-Buy, F-Sell. Again, we are currently invested at 100/S. Our allocation is now +3.62% on the year not including the day’s results. Here are the latest posted results:

Good Day, It’s time to adjust our mix. The new mix is 100/C. Please remember that this is the percentage of money that we have invested in each fund, not the money that is taken from your check and deposited into thrift. Those future contributions should always be 100% G Fund. That automatically protects your…

Good Morning, It seems that it’s an odd thing to say, but we exit the month of October as a successful month which is not always the case as it is historically one of the worst months for the market. So now we enter the month of November which is historically one of the best…
