05/21/18

Good Evening, Today China and the United States agreed to put tariffs on hold while they continue to work on a broader trade agreement that closes the current trade gap between the two countries. The market cheered the action with all of the major indices closing out the day well in the green. One notable thing about the action was a shift of money back into large cap stocks that have lagged due to their international exposure. The Dow Jones Industrial which is made up of 30 large cap stocks was notably higher than the small cap Russell 2000. That said, it was still a decent day for small caps and I would caution anyone that went all in for large caps that it will only take one negative bit of news about the trade negotiations for large cap stocks to sell off hard. My advice would be to buy back into larger stocks in increments if you are inclined to do so. Personally, I still favor having the majority of my investments in small and mid cap companies at this point. The China trade talks are not the only thing that effect larger stocks. We still have a strengthening dollar that will put up significant headwinds for large multinational corporations.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment posted at gain of +0.68%. For comparison, the Dow gained +1.21%, the Nasdaq +0.54%, and the S&P 500 +0.74%. Praise God for another good day!

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Buy, S-buy, I-Buy, F-Sell. We are currently invested at 100/S. Our allocation is now +4.03% on the year not including the days gains. Here are the latest posted results:

Another good day in the books. I thank God for that. With the cautiously improving trade relations with China we’ll be seeing a resurgence of the C Fund. That will be the equaling out of the indices that we talked about in recent blogs. We’ll have to keep a close eye on our charts to see how this develops and as always to ensure that our allocation is the best that it can be. That’s all for tonight. Have a great evening and I’ll see you tomorrow!
God bless, Scott 8-)

Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being. The Fed chairman gave a somewhat dovish address in which he noted that  “the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting…
