Good Evening, China retaliated against the US with trade Tariffs on 50 billion dollars worth of US goods today. So I guess we have the beginning of a real trade war. The market reacted by selling off this morning but then the dip buyers stepped in to make things respectable by the close. Small caps and energy were the places to be today. All in all the market seemed to take the tariff issue in stride. We will see if there is any follow though tomorrow. I suspect that the action will be pretty much the same with investors piling into small and mid cap domestic names for the most part. I must add though that there is quit a bit of speculative interest in several recent Chinese IPO’s such as IQ, HUYA, SOGU, and BILI. Those are some good momentum names to check out if your trading on the street. So why mention them in a Thrift blog??? High interest in speculative stocks is a good sign that the market is moving higher. Those type of stocks are always a good thing to keep and eye on. Normally when they dry up it’s a good time to take some profits……

Good Day, It’s time to adjust our mix. The new mix is 100/C. Please remember that this is the percentage of money that we have invested in each fund, not the money that is taken from your check and deposited into thrift. Those future contributions should always be 100% G Fund. That automatically protects your…

Good Morning, It seems that it’s an odd thing to say, but we exit the month of October as a successful month which is not always the case as it is historically one of the worst months for the market. So now we enter the month of November which is historically one of the best…
