Good Evening, The Fed minutes were released and indicated that the FOMC is concerned about a somewhat slow economy and inflation below their 2% target when considering future interest rate increases. Most investors including me read this to say that interest rates will not be increased in September but possibly in December. The overall result was a flat market today. One other thing that’s interesting about the market recently is that the major indices are not trading in lock step. One session the SPY(C Fund) and the IWM (small caps) will be up and the Nasdaq will sell off and the next day it will be the opposite with the SPY and IWM selling off and the Nasdaq rising. This action is leaving many folks confused. I’m not really sure what to think about it myself but it does tend to give me less confidence in the upside.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment was flat at 0.00%. For comparison, the Dow was near even at -0.01%, the Nasdaq rose +0.67%, and the S&P 500 added +0.15%.

Tech lifts Nasdaq; energy curbs Dow, S&P gains

Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being. The Fed chairman gave a somewhat dovish address in which he noted that  “the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting…
