07/07/16

Good Evening, The market opened higher, reversed and looked like it was going to have a major selloff, then moved off it’s lows to close mixed on the day. While things have been a little negative, there was really no immediate reason for the selling other than profit taking. Selling in the defensive utilities sector was a good example of that.

The days session left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment was slightly off at -0.07%. For comparison, the Dow dropped -0.13%, the Nasdaq added +0.36%, and the S&P slipped -0.09%.

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Buy, S-Buy, I-Sell, F-Buy. We are currently invested at 100/F. Our allocation is now +1.88% on the year not including todays results. Here are the latest posted results:

Now lets take a look at the charts. All signals are annotated with green circles. If you click on the charts they will become larger.

C Fund: Price held just above support at 208 and remains within the ascending wedge.

S Fund: The S fund generated an overall buy signal when the MACD moved into a positive configuration.
S Fund
I Fund: The I Fund is still in a downtrend. As I mentioned yesterday, this leaves me concerned as any rally in US stocks needs the support of international socks in this global economy.
I Fund
F Fund: Bonds were slightly off today, but price remains near the top of the established ascending channel. An SCTR of 67.4 is still tops within our TSP Funds.

There was some selling in a few defensive areas today such as utilities and reits. However, I could find no reason for the selling other than profit taking after a nice run in these areas. Nevertheless, any change in the markets character no matter how small is reason to raise our level of vigilance as it could always be the beginning of a trend change. For that reason we must monitor our charts carefully in the coming days for a possible change in direction. That said, I still don’t trust this uptrend. Not yet anyway. That’s all for tonight. Have a nice evening and may God continue to bless your trades.
God bless, Scott 8-)

Good Morning, Another day another challenge. This market is anything other than boring and I say that not necessarily in a good way! When it comes to the market I think boring is good. That means less volatility and that means less stress. Nonetheless, we have what we have and we must deal with it.…

Good Morning, Our charts told us we were at the bottom and the fundamentals agreed. The opportunity was so compelling that we probably jumped back in a few weeks to early, but we wanted to make darn sure we were positioned for the run that would surely come. The market dipped and many chicken little…

Good Morning, Inevitably, we will have a down day and today is it. Believe it or not the S&P 500 has gone up the past nine sessions and it’s been a long time since it’s done that. So a down day today is not so bad. The recent run has pretty much put things back…
