Good Evening, The market sold off and ended flat for another typical August day. A lot of smoke, but no fire. I’d applaud when August comes to an end if it weren’t for the beginning of September which is not necessarily a good month for the market in it’s own right.
The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment added +0.15%. For comparison, the Dow lost -0.12%, the Nasdaq gained +0.12%, and the S&P dropped -0.06%. Everything was pretty flat. If it’s going to do that we might as well stay in the relative safety of bonds until this trading range is resolved. While you can never count on seasonality as a sure thing when making your investment decisions, I must admit that the odds are stacked against you in August and September.
