08/31/08

Good Evening, Energy prices fell and the market followed. Other than that, the best description I have of the day is that it was a typical August/September day. Sometimes we are actually able to make money during the period, but statistically, most often it’s a loser.

The day’s trading left us with the following results. Our TSP allotment had a slight loss of -0.02%. For comparison, the Dow dropped -0.29%, the Nasdaq -0.19%, and the S&P 500 -0.24%.

Energy drags Wall St. lower; S&P down slightly in August

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Neutral, S-Neutral, I-Neutral, F-Neutral. We are currently invested at 100/F. Our allotment is now +1.79% on the year not including the days results. Here are the latest posted results.

Now lets take a look at the charts. All signals are annotated with green circles. If you click on the charts they will become larger.

C Fund
S Fund: No damage here. The SCTR has strengthened.
S Fund
I Fund: All the indicators are turning down. We need to keep an eye on this one.
I Fund
F Fund: With stocks trading a little weaker, the chart for the F Fund is strengthening ever so slightly. Price continues to put daylight between it and support at 112.30 and the SCTR is starting to turn up.
F Fund
How low can we go…….in August and September. The idea here is to survive and right now the F Fund isn’t looking so bad. That’s all for tonight. Have a great evening!
God bless, Scott 8-)

Good Afternoon, I am certainly praying for all of you effected by the ongoing government shutdown. I have been there done that and it was no fun. So far the market has shook the shutdown off as it obviously thinks that it won’t last long. My thought is that the market won’t give the shutdown…

Good Morning, Well this months almost over and so far the major indices are still holding modest gains in the +1.5% range. If we can manage to hold onto or add to those gains we will have achieved what a lot of folks said we could not do. We will have made a profit when…

Good Morning, Well we got the Fed meeting that we wanted with a quarter point interest rate decrease with the indication that the Fed is planning on two more rate cuts in 2025. As a result, we find ourselves in the odd position of holding a profit in late September. I said in last weeks…
