09/06/18

Good Evening, It was a bifurcated market today with slow moving large cap stocks doing fine and faster moving small cap and tech stocks doing not so well. It depends on where you were at and what you owned as to how you viewed the day. The same old news was making the rounds about tariffs and trade negotiations. You can read about that in the link below. You probably already guessed from my introduction that the major indices came in mixed on the day. All considered it was the type of action we’d expect to see in September.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment fell back -0.50%. For comparison, the Dow was up +0.08%, the Nasdaq lost -0.91%, and the S&P 500 gave up -0.37%. I must admit, this is what I expected in August. I guess we can suffer through a few weeks of it now.

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Buy, S-Buy, I-Sell, F-Neutral. We are currently invested at 100/S. Our allocation is now +11.06% on the year not including the days results: Here are the latest posted results:

The trading is typical for this time of year. Of course any negative action could always be the beginning of something bigger. One of these days the market will move lower and turn into a bear. I’m on record as saying that I don’t think that time is now. That said, I always raise my level of vigilance when the market moves lower. As of today, this selling is no more than some normal corrective action. I’m not too concerned. That’s all for tonight. Have a nice evening and may God continue to bless your trades.
God bless, Scott 8-)

Good Morning, The train left the station after Fridays jobs report. That may have well been the bottom of the current dip. It is now highly likely that the Fed will reduce rates on Sept 17th. More on that later. Right now lets focus on our trains next stop which will be Wednesdays Producer Price…

Good Afternoon, Happy Labor Day! I hope this note finds you enjoying some fine cuisine fresh off the grill! Well here we are starting a new month. The dreaded month of September. Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being. The Fed chairman gave a somewhat dovish address in which he noted that  “the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting…
