09/19/18

Good Evening, According to the media the day wasn’t all that bad. The Dow is closing in it’s January highs and the S&P shook of tariff fears finishing in the green…..etc. etc. That’s all true and I will admit that it wasn’t that bad depending on were you were invested. The high profile areas were definitely in the green, but sector rotation was again taking place. Financials were up influenced by rising treasury rates which lead to rising interest rates which make banking more profitable. You get the picture. However defensive sectors such as Utilities were down as they are effected negatively by rising rates. Tech also was under pressure today as it usually is in these situations. As has been the case investors are holding onto big profits in tech so were better to raise a little capital to invest in financials than to take some profits in tech? Don’t worry if your a tech investor on the street. They will be fine. Small caps were also in the same boat as tech. They should be fine as well.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment slipped back -0.40%. For comparison, the Dow gained +0.61%, the Nasdaq dropped -0.08%, and the S&P 500 added +0.13%. You know it just occurred to me, the market is betting against the tariffs. Sometimes the market is a good predictor and sometimes it’s not. We will see. For now I remain in the “There will be tariffs camp”. That’s the way I’m invested. If the tariffs change then I will change. It’s tempting to move to the C Fund to be sure, but as you’ve seen many times recently it would probably be jumping the gun.

The days action left us with the following signals: C-Neutral, S-Neutral, I-Neutral, F-Sell. We are currently invested at 100/S. Our allocation is now +10.66% on the year not including the days results. Here are the latest posted results:

Good Morning, Our charts told us we were at the bottom and the fundamentals agreed. The opportunity was so compelling that we probably jumped back in a few weeks to early, but we wanted to make darn sure we were positioned for the run that would surely come. The market dipped and many chicken little…

Good Morning, Inevitably, we will have a down day and today is it. Believe it or not the S&P 500 has gone up the past nine sessions and it’s been a long time since it’s done that. So a down day today is not so bad. The recent run has pretty much put things back…

Good Afternoon, This was a Fed Driven market. It was all about when the Fed would be reducing interest rates based on inflation and that’s still the case to a certain degree, but in all actuality everything is waiting on the outcome of the tariff situation. So given that fact I’m going to say that…
