Good Evening, the market eased up to new records in the afternoon session although it spent the bulk of the day near even. There wasn’t really anything to point to as a catalyst but there was a lot of talk on the street that President Trump was considering nominating Jerome Powell as the new Fed Chairman. The market approves of Mr. Powell because his views are seen to be the closest in line with Janet Yellen of any potential candidate. That is to say, his views are thought to be the most market friendly. The market loves to love the Fed but that has not always been the case. When you have a chairman that favors hiking rates on a schedule regardless of how it affects the market as some in the past have done it puts downward pressure on the market. Believe me when I say we all want market friendly Fed Chairman!

The days trading left us with the following results. Our TSP allotment under performed again today with a gain of +0.07%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.18%, the Nasdaq +0.25%, and the S&P 500 +0.18%. It’s hard to be patient but I believe we’ll have a our day.

 

Wall Street ticks higher to record close; eyes on earnings, Fed
