Good Evening, The markets were mixed ahead of tomorrows crucial midterm elections. If you were hoping for a big move before the elections then you simply don’t understand the nature of the market. We were  most fortunate to have finished mixed today given the uncertainty of tomorrow. There are many talking heads that are saying that it will be best if the house and senate go to opposing parties. Then nothing will get done good or bad. They say that the market likes both parties and what it doesn’t like is uncertainty. On the second point I agree. However, I’m not so sure about the first. I think the market favors deregulation and decreased taxes for a more business friendly environment. Anything less is a disappointment. So any candidate or party that apposes these things is probably not who you want to see win if you expect to make a lot of money in the market. I will also add that there are some candidates and parties that are absolutely opposed to capitalism. Folks, the market is capitalism plain and simple. The market is the single greatest path to wealth in our country. Think about that when you do your patriotic duty and vote. Of course there are many other important issues…..but that’s not what we talk about in this blog. ONLY ISSUES THAT RELATE TO THE MARKET!!!!!

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment posted a small gain of +0.06%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.76%, the Nasdaq dropped -0.38%, and the S&P 500 gained +0.56%.  Praise God for a day in the green.

We just have to get this election out of the way so we can see where we’re going, Either way, if we seek God He will continue to guide us. That’s all for tonight. Have a nice evening and be sure to get out and vote tomorrow!

Good Afternoon, We talked last week about Jerome Powell’s speech at Jackson Hole Wyoming being a possible inflection point for the market and that’s exactly what it ended up being. The Fed chairman gave a somewhat dovish address in which he noted that  “the baseline outlook and the shifting balance of risks may warrant adjusting…
