11/28/17

Good Evening, Tax reform made progress in the Senate and the market liked what Jerome Powell who has been nominated to replace Janet Yellen as Fed Chairman had to say when he testified before the Senate banking committee today. The result was a decent rally fueled by a rotation into the financial sector as investors see the new Fed Chair nominee as being bank friendly. Specifically, he defended the need to roll back some of the banking regulations that were put in place after the financial crisis in 2008. Of course the tax reform bill making it’s way through the Senate contains a corporate tax cut to 20%  which is viewed as being a potential boost to American Corporations that will keep the current rally alive. However, be advised that there may yet be some bumps in the road as the Senate and House versions must me reconciled before a tax reform bill can be passed into law. The sticking point is that the Senate version contains a delay in the corporate tax cut while the House version does not. Nevertheless, the today’s progress was viewed as a positive and helped fuel the days advance.
