Good Evening, I have come to the conclusion that I could have saved myself a lot of work in 2021 if I’d just copied the same text at the beginning of every blog. It could say something like this and would be applicable to every bog this year ” This weeks trading was again defined by volatility”! Yep here we go again….This weeks trading was again defined by volatility caused by investor concerns over the omicron variant of Covid 19. The omicron surge has kept investors on edge with the variant now found in at least 43 U.S. states and 90 countries. Officials with the World Health Organization said omicron is more contagious than any previous variant of Covid-19. That’s true but there seems to be a debate about the severity of the symptoms. My task in writing this blog is not per say to discuss medical issues. However, the aforementioned debate about the severity of the omicron strain is definitely effecting the volatility of the market making it a viable subject. Investors remain perplexed about how it will effect the economic recovery from the pandemic. My personal view on this which effects my market strategy is that omicron is definitely more contagious than all previous variants of the Covid virus. No doubt about it. You know what else is extremely contagious? Type A Flu!! Which by the way is wreaking havoc in the US as we speak. My son actually had it the past two weeks. He was extremely sick. Much sicker than anyone I have personally heard of with omicron. In my first comments on the variant I noted that the South African Doctor that treated the first cases that were identified said that they were mild. So I said it before and I’ll say it again. I do not think that omicron will shut this economy down. I think a lot of Government Officials and investors are gun shy of Covid and are overreacting. Sure Omicron is contagious. So is the common cold and the flu! With the type A Flu running rampant in so many states why aren’t our Government Officials on the air warning us about it and why aren’t they trying to mandate flu shots? Yeah and how many variants of influenza do we have this year??? Funny I haven’t heard anything about that? How many deaths from the flu? Funny, I haven’t heard anything about that either. There’s an old saying where I come from. Here’s the sanitized version “Don’t pour water down our back and tell us it’s raining!” The American people are smarter than that. If they need a shot they’ll get one. If they don’t then they’ll let you know what you can do with it. If omicron is the only problem we got they’ll bring this market back up too. No!!! It’s the I words that are the problem. I’ll only whisper them once……Inflation and Interest rates. If we ever have to move to the G Fund it will be because of those not because of omicron. It seems like these folks just have to have some kind of crisis to be fulfilled. At the end of the day God is still in the throne and He is faithful to take care of His children. He’s bigger than Omicron He’s bigger than inflation and He can keep the interest rates affordable. It’s not the politicians that tell us how much we need them that are responsible for the economy. It’s God almighty! When we have a good economy it is a blessing from God. All blessings come from God. Give Him all the praise for He and He alone is worthy!
