12/14/16

Good Evening, Janet Yellen and crew increased the Fed short term rate by .25% today as expected.  In addition, Fed Chairwomen Yellen indicated that their would likely be three rate increases in 2017. There was also much speculation on how the election of Donald Trump might effect future rate of increases by the FOMC. The market reaction was a sell off. While I’m not in the business of speculation, I was somewhat surprised by the “Sell the News” reaction. The fact that it occurred on such high volume tells me that high volume computer algorithms are likely the culprit. At any rate it will be interesting to see what happens as we watch our charts closely over the coming weeks. At a minimum we should see a rebound in financial stocks as they clearly benefit from higher interest rates. I’m not going to speculate beyond that. I’ll just react to what I see on the charts.

There’s a little downward pressure on our equity based charts but there is no serious damage just yet. The charts are hanging in there and so will I. We’ll keep and eye on things and see how the rate increase and Trump presidency effect the market though the end of the year. That’s all for tonight. Have a nice evening and may God continue to bless your trades.
God bless, Scott 8-)

Good Morning, Another day another challenge. This market is anything other than boring and I say that not necessarily in a good way! When it comes to the market I think boring is good. That means less volatility and that means less stress. Nonetheless, we have what we have and we must deal with it.…

Good Morning, Our charts told us we were at the bottom and the fundamentals agreed. The opportunity was so compelling that we probably jumped back in a few weeks to early, but we wanted to make darn sure we were positioned for the run that would surely come. The market dipped and many chicken little…

Good Morning, Inevitably, we will have a down day and today is it. Believe it or not the S&P 500 has gone up the past nine sessions and it’s been a long time since it’s done that. So a down day today is not so bad. The recent run has pretty much put things back…
