12/27/16

Good Evening, As 2016 rolls to an end we are experiencing the same low volume holiday trading that usually goes on. Most of the big funds are done with portfolio adjustments are out of the office until the new year. Most traders are done with their taxed based selling as well leading to one of the lowest volume days of the year. You really can’t take much from this action. The major indexes managed modest gains on the day with the focus again on the Dow as it inches closer to 20,000. The 20,000 level is really a meaningless level in a meaningless index. That said it does have some bearing as a psychological level and will suck in some additional buyers should the Dow get there. Otherwise it is meaningless as the Dow is made up of only 30 stocks which are weighted to boot. If you want a better gauge of what the market is dong look to the S&P 500 and/or the Russell 2000. Enough said, you get the picture. Watch the charts of the large indexes and they will usually tell the story and right now that story is an uptrend. Don’t spend time worrying about a top either. Just enjoy the ride. The charts will tell you when to sell.

The days action left us with the following results: Our allotment gained +0.43%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.06%, the Nasdaq +0.45%, and the S&P 500 +0.22%.

Good Morning, Another day another challenge. This market is anything other than boring and I say that not necessarily in a good way! When it comes to the market I think boring is good. That means less volatility and that means less stress. Nonetheless, we have what we have and we must deal with it.…

Good Morning, Our charts told us we were at the bottom and the fundamentals agreed. The opportunity was so compelling that we probably jumped back in a few weeks to early, but we wanted to make darn sure we were positioned for the run that would surely come. The market dipped and many chicken little…

Good Morning, Inevitably, we will have a down day and today is it. Believe it or not the S&P 500 has gone up the past nine sessions and it’s been a long time since it’s done that. So a down day today is not so bad. The recent run has pretty much put things back…
