09/29/17

Good Evening, Continued optimism about the Trump Tax Plan coupled with some end of the month window dressing led the market higher again today. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both managed new records. A couple notable things about this month as it comes to an end. It was one of those rare Septembers when you could make a profit. For September, the Dow gained 2.1 percent, the S&P rose 1.9 percent and the Nasdaq advanced 1.05 percent. Secondly, this September the S&P 500 had the narrowest intraday trading range in history. It was an odd September to say the least. We now begin the month of October that is known for it’s volatility and as a month when the market often undergoes great changes in character. I’m not making any predictions, but I feel that if tax reform makes progress that the market will be just fine in October as well as into the New Year. We will see.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment gained +0.59%. For comparison, the Dow added +0.11%, the Nasdaq +0.66%, and the S&P 500 +0.37%. Thank God for another good day!

The month’s action left us with the following signals: C-Buy, S-Buy, I-Buy, F-Neutral. We are currently invested at 100/I. Our allotment is now +14.38% on the year. Here are the latest posted returns:

Good morning, I’ll keep this brief because I’m on the road again. This market is volatile! I don’t care what the so called experts say. I don’t care what the VIX is. I don’t care whether folks are making money or losing money. It is one of the most volatile and fluid markets I have…

Good Day, It’s time to adjust our mix. The new mix is 100/S. Please remember that this is the percentage of money that we have invested in each fund, not the money that is taken from your check and deposited into thrift. Those future contributions should always be 100% G Fund. That automatically protects your deposit in the event that it…
