12/15/17

Good Evening, Senators Marco Rubio (FL) and Bob Corker (TN) indicated today that they will now support the tax reform bill. The market rallied in response which was no surprise to us. Stocks did move off their highs shortly before the bell as investors are waiting to see what the final bill looks like. A vote on the bill will not occur until next week but it appears that there are now sufficient votes to push it through. Investors exhibited cautious optimism but held the reigns back just a little until they can see a final vote. Some of the talking heads are saying that passage of the bill is already priced in and that there will be a sell the news reaction once it is finally passed. However, I think that the computer algorithms are programmed to buy news good, bad or indifferent. By the matter of fact they will usually buy the same news event several times. I think back to when the EU was bailing out Greece. I didn’t count but I’ll bet we had at least ten “Greece is saved” rallies. It became quite a joke at the time.

The days trading left us with the following results: Our TSP allotment recovered with a nice gain of +1.06%. For comparison, the Dow was up +0.58%, the Nasdaq +1.17%, and the S&P 500 +0.90%. Praise God for the good day!

Good Morning, Our charts told us we were at the bottom and the fundamentals agreed. The opportunity was so compelling that we probably jumped back in a few weeks to early, but we wanted to make darn sure we were positioned for the run that would surely come. The market dipped and many chicken little…

Good Morning, Inevitably, we will have a down day and today is it. Believe it or not the S&P 500 has gone up the past nine sessions and it’s been a long time since it’s done that. So a down day today is not so bad. The recent run has pretty much put things back…

Good Afternoon, This was a Fed Driven market. It was all about when the Fed would be reducing interest rates based on inflation and that’s still the case to a certain degree, but in all actuality everything is waiting on the outcome of the tariff situation. So given that fact I’m going to say that…
